The auditions for this year’s Festival Dionysia is finally open! Audition for a chance to star in one of our 6 original and professional one act plays produced this year.

The audition dates are:

Day 1: January 24th (5:30 PM – 9:00 PM)
Day 2: January 25th (5:30 PM – 9:00 PM)
Day 3: January 26th (10:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Callbacks: January 27th (TBA)

Don’t worry if you’ve never done theatre before. There are a lot of spots open for Assistant Stage Manager, and absolutely no experience is necessary. You’ll work directly with the Stage Manager, the Production crew, and your respective director and actors. Come play with us!

The UBC Players Club is proud to announce our co-production of Dear Elizabeth, a Vancouver Fringe Festival Production with Wunderdog Theatre!

Integrating new technology with traditional theatrical conventions, Wunderdog Theatre is a Canadian theatre company that explores new ways to tell classic and critically acclaimed stories, examining the way we consume narrative in a digital era. Comprised of recent graduates from Vancouver theatre programs, Wunderdog Theatre has strong mandate to provide creative opportunities for emerging artists of all persuasions.

For auditions, the dates are:

January 19th: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

January 20th: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

January 21st: Callbacks

Please prepare a monologue around 2 minutes in length to audition with, and email your availability, headshot, and acting resume (if applicable) to [email protected]

The festival will run March 14th – 18th, and tech week before that, which you will be required to be available along with other days for production meetings, etc (should there be complications, please talk to us)

Experience is not required for any of the positions though preferred for Stage Manager.

We are NOW accepting submissions for the 7th annual Festival Dionysia!

Festival Dionysia is an annual festival of One Acts by the UBC Players Club, directed, written and produced mostly by UBC students. If you would like to direct or write a one act play, this is your chance!

Playwrights, please fill out the form and email both the form and your script of an one act play no more than 20 pages to us.

Directors, please fill out the form and email it to us. No experience is necessary.

Optional:

1. You can propose a play as well if you are passionate about directing a non-original one act. Also around 20 pages.

2. You can send in a resume on top of the form if you have/want.

Deadline for both is December 4th, 2017.

Hello, Players!

First of all, I would like to welcome everyone back to the Players Club for another fun-packed year of theatre here on the UBC campus! Our fall mainstage production is Doubt: A Parable by John Patrick Shanley. This Pulitzer-winning play is about a conflict between a nun and priest, getting the audience at the edge of their seats as it becomes more and more unclear who is the guilty party all the while taking an introspective look into race, religion, and sexuality.

This Production will take place from November 12th – 19th.

Please carefully read and follow the instructions below if you are interested in joining the cast and crew!

ACTORS

No experience is necessary.

• List of experiences (or lack of- perfectly all right) or Acting resume

• Preferred audition time within September 29 (2:00 PM – 5:30 PM) and September 30th (10:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Please prepare a short monologue to audition with, but cold reads will also be available. Callbacks October 1st.

Please include in the email a few reasons why you are interested or qualify for the position. If we receive multiple applications for positions requiring experience, we will go through a quick vetting process to determine the final candidates.

Finally, in order to be cast in the show or join our crew, you are required to be a member of the Players Club. (You do not need to be to audition) Membership fee is $10 for UBC students, $15 for non-UBC students and $5 for renewals. Your membership also gets you discounts to shows and as cast and crew, you will be eligible for a complimentary ticket.
